The Great Migration: Timing Is Everything

The herds follow the rain, so the months are a guide and never a promise. Roughly, January to March is calving season in the southern Serengeti, June and July bring the Grumeti River crossings in the Western Corridor, and August to September is when the big Mara River crossings happen up north. By November the herds are drifting south again.
