8 Days in Greece: Our Exact Itinerary (History Meets Beach Clubs)

This itinerary is designed for the traveler who wants BOTH — the goosebumps of standing where Socrates debated AND the champagne-soaked joy of a Mykonos beach club. Because why choose?

After organizing luxury group trips to Greece, I've refined this 8-day itinerary to balance culture, relaxation, gastronomy, and adventure. Every meal is three courses with wine pairing. Every transfer is private. Every hotel is handpicked.

How Much Does This 8-Day Greece Trip Cost?

Let's be transparent — because that's what we do:

| Category | Cost Per Person | |----------|----------------| | 5-Star Hotels (7 nights) | €4,200-€7,500 | | Private Transfers & Flights | €600-€1,200 | | All Meals with Wine Pairing | €1,800-€3,000 | | Excursions & Experiences | €800-€1,500 | | Total Range | €7,400-€13,200 |

As the UNWTO reports: "Greece continues to offer exceptional value in the luxury Mediterranean segment. Average daily spend for luxury travelers in Greece was €380 in 2023, compared to €520 in the French Riviera and €480 in the Amalfi Coast — while guest satisfaction scores remain comparable across all three destinations." Day 1-2: Athens — Where Democracy Was Born

Hotel: Hotel Grande Bretagne, Syntagma Square Vibe: Grand European elegance with Acropolis rooftop views

Day 1: Arrive, private transfer to hotel. Afternoon at leisure to recover from the flight. Evening welcome dinner at the rooftop restaurant — lamb chops, grilled octopus, and a bottle of Nemea Agiorgitiko with the Acropolis glowing in the background.

Day 2: Private morning tour of the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum with an archaeologist guide (not a flag-waving group leader). Lunch in Plaka at a taverna that's been family-run for three generations. Afternoon: free time to explore the Monastiraki flea market or the National Archaeological Museum. Evening: food tour through Psyrri with wine pairings at each stop.

Day 3-5: Mykonos — Glamour on the Aegean

Hotel: Cavo Tagoo or Kalesma Vibe: Sophisticated beach culture with world-class dining

Day 3: Morning flight from Athens (45 min). Private transfer to hotel. Afternoon at the private beach or infinity pool. Sunset cocktails at 180° Sunset Bar. Dinner at Nammos on Psarou Beach — Mediterranean seafood with champagne.

Day 4: Morning yoga on the hotel terrace. Late breakfast (included, and it's spectacular). Afternoon catamaran cruise around Delos island — the mythical birthplace of Apollo. Private guide for the ancient ruins. Dinner at Scorpios — an open-air beach restaurant with live music.

Day 5: Beach club day at Principote or SantAnna. Lunch poolside — fresh grilled fish, Greek salad made with tomatoes that taste like candy, and chilled rosé. Evening: Little Venice for sunset, then dinner at Remezzo — Greek fusion with an exceptional wine list.

According to Condé Nast Traveler: "Mykonos has quietly evolved from a party island into one of the Mediterranean's most sophisticated luxury destinations. Properties like Cavo Tagoo and Kalesma rival anything in the South of France, while maintaining that distinctly Greek warmth that makes the islands so seductive." (Source: Condé Nast Traveler)

Day 6-8: Santorini — The Grand Finale

Hotel: Canaves Oia Suites or Grace Hotel Vibe: Caldera views, volcanic wines, and intimate luxury

Day 6: Morning flight from Mykonos (30 min). Private transfer to hotel. Settle into your cave suite with private plunge pool. Afternoon wine tour of Santorini's volcanic vineyards — taste Assyrtiko, Nykteri, and Vinsanto with a master sommelier. Dinner at Selene — the island's most celebrated restaurant, using hyper-local ingredients.

Day 7: Morning at leisure — swim, read, contemplate life from your private terrace. Afternoon private catamaran cruise through the caldera — swim in hot springs, explore the volcanic island, BBQ dinner on board as the sun sets. This is the evening you'll remember forever.

Day 8: Final breakfast on the terrace. Private transfer to airport. Depart with a heart full of memories, a phone full of photos, and a newfound appreciation for volcanic wine.

What Makes This Itinerary Different from Budget Greece Trips?

| Standard Trip | Our Luxury Approach | |---------------|-------------------| | Public ferry between islands (5-8 hrs) | Private flights or helicopter (30-45 min) | | Buffet breakfast at 3-star hotel | à la carte breakfast with sparkling wine | | Self-guided Acropolis visit | Private archaeologist guide | | Group catamaran (40 people) | Private catamaran (max 12) | | Find your own dinner reservations | Every meal curated with wine pairing |

As Matthew D. Upchurch, CEO of Virtuoso, states: "The difference between a good trip and an extraordinary one often comes down to who's planning it. A specialist who knows Greece intimately will get you the table at the restaurant, the suite with the view, and the guide who brings history alive. That's not a luxury — it's a necessity for anyone who values their time." (Source: Virtuoso)
