What are the best things to do in Dubai with friends? High tea at the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Fountain and Palm Jumeirah, the Miracle Garden, a day in Abu Dhabi at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, a desert safari with dinner at a Bedouin camp, the Gold Souk, and a sunset yacht sail past the skyline.
- The Burj Khalifa. The world's tallest building. On our trip it's Day 4, high tea in the lounge with the whole city below you.
- The Dubai Fountain and Palm Jumeirah. The water shows at the foot of the Burj Khalifa and the man-made island you've seen on everyone's feed, both on our private city tour on Day 2.
- The Miracle Garden. Flowers by the million in the middle of the desert, also on Day 2.

- A desert safari. Dune bashing, sandboarding, camels at sunset and dinner at a Bedouin camp under the stars. That's our Day 6.

- A sunset yacht sail. The skyline from the water as the lights come on. It's how we say goodbye on Day 7.

The Hotel Scene: Seven Stars and Beyond

Dubai does hotels like nowhere else. The sail-shaped Burj Al Arab, often called the world's only "seven-star" hotel (a nickname, not an official rating), closed in April 2026 for a phased restoration and is expected back around 2027. Until then, my first pick is Atlantis The Royal, the only hotel in the Middle East with three MICHELIN Keys. In this city, five-star is the starting point.
